Oregon Coast Learning Institute (OCLI) is a diverse group of intellectually adventurous people who seek to continue their learning in a social, communal setting beyond the structured environment of school. OCLI meets weekly to hear presentations on a variety of subjects, from art to history to life experiences.
Presenters are audience members or guests who have expertise or interest in a particular subject area.

OCLI meets once a week for a day of lectures, discussions, and presentations on a variety of subjects. Each session is independant, and on any given day, members may be exposed to a wide range of different subjects. Of course, our members are always free to attend only the subjects that interest them. OCLI does not depend on attendance, exams, assignments, or credits - only individual interest.
A session usually consists of a morning program, lunch, and then an afternoon program. Sessions are held weekly, from September to November (Fall Semester), and then from January to April (Spring Semester).
OCLI meets weekly in the facilities
of our generous sponsor, Salishan Spa and Golf Resort,
in Gleneden Beach, Oregon. Our sponsor makes available a special lunch menu
exclusively for OCLI members, served in their elegant dining facilities. Lunch provides the perfect
opportunity for members to socialize and continue their captivating discussions of the day's
topics.
If you're interested in finding out more about OCLI, or about joining us, please feel free to contact us, or drop in on one of our sessions to see all that we have to offer!
OCLI was started in the summer of 2003 and modeled after the Institute for Continued Learning (ICL) at Willamette University. It was started by a group of ICL participants living on the Oregon coast who, together with some local intellectual enthusiasts, saw the appeal of having on the coast a stimulating educational environment where people can come together to share subjects of mutual interest.
Since then, OCLI has quickly grown by leaps and bounds as people from all over the Oregon coast and elsewhere are drawn to the social and intellectual opportunities OCLI offers.
From the beginning, the directors and officers of the group, like many of the presenters, have been drawn from the ranks of the group itself. OCLI has always been an independant, self-supporting organization, and we always seek and welcome fruitful new partnerships with other educational organizations. If you represent an educational organization and believe that there would be mutual benefits from working together with us, please don't hesitate to contact us.
